Good evening CCP students,
We write tonight to let you know that we’ve really tried. We are working around the clock. (The longest cram session ever…. taking some of us back to our college days tbh.) Although we will keep trying to reach a deal with CCP’s administration, we were forced to set a strike deadline for this Wednesday, March 26th at 7am. Our union members are so tired of being disrespected by administration, and they know CCP can do so much more for faculty, staff, and students.

What does this strike deadline mean?
It means that classes continue as scheduled on Tuesday. Go to class. Be extra nice to your professor.
And then, IF management does not make significant movement we will announce that the strike is happening. Check social media and/or look for an email from your teachers or this email listserv. We will do our best to provide as much notice as possible, and we will bargain throughout the night on Tuesday if necessary.
We still hope to avoid a strike, and we’ve moved a lot more than management has in order to try and avoid one. But they are refusing to provide SEPTA passes for students, refusing to fully staff advising and the Learning Lab and so many other things that directly and indirectly impact students. We want to make Community College of Philadelphia the absolute best that it can be for all.
So again, a strike may or may not happen.
We will let you know as soon as we make a decision.
We know this is stressful and frustrating for some, and we are sorry that CCP administration has chosen this path. The College has made some movement toward our demands since we announced our unprecedented strike authorization vote, but not enough movement for us to reach a deal. We are hopeful that the strike deadline will push them to finally, finally do the right thing.
Thank you for your support. Student support means the absolute world to our members. You are why we are here. Community College of Philadelphia is the heart of Philly and students are the heart of CCP.
